No more demonstrations in Kisumu, Governor Nyongo

We shall have no more demonstrations in Kisumu County, Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o declares.
Kisumu County Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o on Wednesday, March 29th 2023, adjourned Monday and Thursday rallies within the county.

Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o implied that the suspension of the protests in Kisumu followed talks with the Azimio la Umoja’s National administration and County Executive Committee.

According to Anyang’ Nyong’o, the petitions by him and Kisumu residents have already been delivered to the national government. However, the Governor further noted that he and other Azimio protesters will join anti-government demonstrations in Nairobi.
Below is a statement by the current Governor of Kisumu County, Professor Anyang’ Nyong’o.

“However, after detailed consultations with the Azimio National leadership and the County Executive Committee (the cabinet), I wish to (announce) that all public demonstrations within Kisumu County have, from today, been suspended indefinitely so that we can join the demonstrations in Nairobi.”

“Our people have also been protesting the undemocratic plans by the Kenya Kwanza regime to handpick a partisan Independent Electoral loland Boundaries Commission to manage the 2027 General election contrary to what is provided for in the Constitution,”Nyong’o added.

Contrary, on Monday, March 27, Raila told his supporters that the Monday and Thursday demonstrations/Maandamano would continue despite calls from different sectors urging him to discontinue them.

Raila Odinga upheld the demos implying that they were key to keeping President William Ruto in check and lowering the cost of living in Kenya.

Lastly, President William Ruto has directed Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome to ensure that Azimio chaos is not experienced again. Below is what President Ruto remarked while in German.
