In our previous article, we listed the registered truck driving schools in Uganda. Similarly, we also shared a simplified list of the Licensed Driving Schools in Uganda. Today, we shall enlighten you on the requirements that will guide you on how to start a driving school in Uganda in 2022/2023.
How do I start a driving school in Uganda?
To start a driving school in Uganda, you will need to fulfill the Driving School Requirements by the Ministry of Works and Transport. Also, you will have to pay UGX 200,000 as the license fees for your application to be processed. So, what are the requirements for you to start a driving school in Uganda?
Requirements to start a driving school in Uganda 2022
- A minimum of two instruction motor vehicles in good mechanical condition with dual brakes and dual clutches for manual cars marked with the name of the driving school, training materials, and a valid trading license.
- Certificate of incorporation, Copies of memorandum, and articles of association.
- Proof of ownership of land or tenancy agreement for the training ground.
- Qualified instructors.
- Training /administrative facilities.
Having fulfilled the above requirements, the next step is to apply for the driving school you want to start or launch. It’s good to note that there are no application fees required. However, you will have to pay license fees of Ugx 200,000. After the payment, you may have to wait for up to 6 hours for your application to be processed.
Last but not least, it’s good to note that the Driving School License in Uganda is renewable annually at a fee of UGX 200,000. This is by the Traffic and Road Safety Act, Cap 361, Traffic and Road Safety (Driving Schools and Driving Instructors).
