In Uganda, the music scene is flourishing with a new generation of artists. Let’s explore one of these up and coming stars: Bash Luks. Based in Kampala, Uganda and running his own music label, Lot Fire Records, he draws inspiration from Eddy Kenzo, The late Mowzey Radio, Madoxx Ssemanda Sematimba and many other greats. Bashir Lukonge, who is widely recognized as Bash Luks, is a multitalented individual hailing from Uganda. He is a singer-songwriter, actor, author of the book titled ‘Road To Success’, music producer, and the esteemed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Lot Fire Records, a prominent record label based in Uganda. Bash Luks was born to Isima Matovu, a successful businessperson, and Rosemary Nannyonga, a dedicated nursing assistant. Growing up in Mubende District and later residing in Kampala, Uganda, he is the youngest of two siblings. Bash Luks has also made notable contributions to the world of film acting and has made appearances in various Ugandan television series.
He attended a class of 2008 at Butega Church of Uganda Primary School Mityana for his primary level of Education, then progressed to St. Joseph’s Secondary School Busega class of 2012, following that he attended Forest Peas High School Kikandwa in 2013 and St. Matia Mulumba Secondary School Kassanda class of 2014 for his secondary level of education.
Bash Luks began his musical journey while he was just a young artist. He had difficulty understanding his musical identity and finding his place in the industry. Instead of giving up, he dedicated his time to perfecting his craft by composing and recording tracks in his room, in addition to performing at local open mics and events. Despite the obstacles, Bash Luks never wavered from his love for music; it was this passion that pushed him to pursue connecting with listeners and conveying his experiences through each of his songs. When I think of music, I believe it has the power to evoke the same emotion no matter the age of the listener. Lyrics are also incredibly important; when you marry words and a tune to create something stirring, everyone wants to have it on continuous loop. It’s not something you can plan or think about, it’s just there.
Music making for me is also an emotional journey. It’s something that comes from deep within. My music and singing has been influenced by my life experiences, the people I’ve encountered, the places I’ve seen, my own emotions, and the world around me.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲?
The type of music I produce is commonly known as ‘Afrobeats’, ‘Popular Music’, and ‘Dancehall’, with additional elements of reggae incorporated into my sound. My musical style is greatly shaped by the music that I grew up listening to.

As a burgeoning artist, my primary obstacle lies in the realm of promoting my work. Nonetheless, I have been steadily overcoming this challenge through my proactive efforts.

From the very start of my journey, I have found immense inspiration in a diverse array of individuals who have made a significant impact in the music industry. Among these remarkable figures are Madoxx Ssemanda Sematimba, Eddy Kenzo, Pallaso, Bobi Wine, and the late Mowzey Radio. However, my list of influencers extends far beyond these notable names, encompassing a wide range of talented individuals who have left an indelible mark on my artistic vision.

I have a deep admiration for Ang3lina and her captivating musical talent. Listening to her melodious compositions never fails to bring immense joy and satisfaction. Not only do I appreciate her artistry, but my friends also share the same level of adoration for her music. The remarkable fusion of sound and vibe that Ang3lina creates leaves me in complete awe.
𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗸𝗶𝗱𝘀?
I have not entered into the sacred union of marriage as of yet. However, on the third day of March in the year 2018, I was bestowed with the immense joy of welcoming a beautiful and precious baby girl into this world at the esteemed Wakiso District Health Center IV. It is with great delight and gratitude that my partner and I have chosen to bestow upon her the name Omaira Lukonge.

Uganda boasts a prominent musician who has garnered an extensive fan base and achieved remarkable fame through the release of highly popular songs that have gone viral on platforms such as YouTube and various social media channels, amassing millions of views. Winning numerous prestigious accolades, including a Grammy Award, BET Award, MAMA Award, Billboard Music Award, All African Music Awards, MTV Music Video Award, and many other esteemed honors.
𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝘀
Bash Luks is currently experiencing a highly successful phase in his musical career. He has collaborated with both local and international musicians, resulting in the creation of the instrumental album titled “The Last Born. Additionally, on October 19th, 2022, he released his debut original Afrobeat single called “Nkubwamu” (Feat. Jim Siizer). The term “Nkubwamu” is derived from the Luganda/Ganda language and translates to “Getting High” in English. This club anthem has been produced by BX On Da Beat at Lot Fire Records and has garnered positive feedback from individuals of all age groups. Presently, Bash Luks is diligently working on his second album and eagerly anticipates the opportunities that this collaboration will bring.
