At least 3 cult members have been arrested by police in possession of female private clothes in Sagamu District. The suspects – Olagboye Abidemi, 32; Olasemojo Michael, 28; and Wasiu Waheed, 23 – were reportedly members of the Eiye Confraternity. As a result, they were arrested by the Ogun State Police Command men who reportedly stormed their initiation hideout in Agbowa area of Ogijo.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the arrest. Oyeyemi said the arrests were made in continuation of command’s war on cultism and other violent crimes.
“The DPO Ogijo division, CSP Muhammed Baba, while leading his men on Operation Puff Adder on a routine patrol, got information about the hideout of the cultists. Furthermore, the hide out is where they usually initiate new members. The place was stormed by police and three members of the group got arrested. Police recovered one jackknife, one bloodstained silver knife, female Private attires tied with charms and other assorted charms,” said Oyeyemi.
The PPRO, however, said the Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama, had ordered the transfer of the suspects to the Anti-Kidnapping/Anti-Cultism section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation. 3 Arrested In Possession of Female private clothes.
