Over 50 Mbale SS Students Collapse after Police TearGas into them. Police had to use tear gas after the rival schools Mbale SS students Nkoma SS clashed. As a result, the teachers were forced into ferrying collapsed students to nearby health facilities for medical care.
Mbale district police commander, Fred Ahimbisibwe and his team fired teargas in order to calm the situation. Most of the injured students were hospitalized in Mbale regional referral hospital, Vina Medical care, Cure Children’s Centre and, Joy Hospice hospital. Most noteworthy, the majority of the admitted students were females.

The clash between the two rival schools lasted for over 2 hours before coming to an end. However, most of the students cursed the police for using excessive force. This is because the clash had already ended by the time the police arrived.
According to the reports, a fight broke when a student at the Mbale SS was beaten up by Nkoma SS students. A senior two student at Mbale SS said that the groups attacked students at the entrance gate. This prompted Boda Boda operators within the nearby stage to disperse them, which infuriated them.
